Privacy Policy
GetInsuredCanada ("we", "us") helps Canadians compare and apply for life insurance. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
When you request a quote, we collect the information you enter:
- Name and email address
- Date of birth, sex at birth, and province of residence
- Nicotine use in the last 12 months
- The type of coverage you are looking for (life, disability, or critical illness)
- The coverage amount you are interested in
We do not collect information from your browsing on this site for advertising purposes, and we do not use advertising pixels or build advertising audiences from your information.
Why we collect it
- To prepare an estimated quote for you
- To contact you about your quote and next steps
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations as an insurance brokerage
We collect this information only with your express consent, which you give by checking the consent box on the quote form. We record the date and the version of the consent wording you agreed to.
How it is stored and shared
- Your information is stored in our secured database. Our servers are currently hosted with a cloud provider in the United States, which means your information may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction while stored there.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or ad platforms.
- Internal notifications about new quote requests contain no name, contact details, or health information.
- We use a transactional email provider to send you a confirmation of your quote request; it processes your name and email address for that purpose only.
- If you proceed to an application, we share your information with the insurer(s) you choose to apply to, with your consent.
Retention
We keep quote information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law and our regulator, and then delete it.
Your choices and rights
- You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will stop contacting you and delete your quote information on request.
- You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it.
- If you have a concern we cannot resolve, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
